Cliff Hanger (4)

Another awesome, scenic trail (do you see a pattern here?).  This trail turned out to be a little harder than the guidebooks would have you believe.  This is an out and back trail that ends high atop Amassa Back, overlooking the awesome Jackson Hole, an ancient abandoned meander of the Colorado River.

End of the trail... a great lunch spot with stunning views

.
Steve approaches the obstacle the the trail is named for... it is only a 400 ft drop to the right!  Not too hard, just SCARY, and you have to do it twice!

The first obstacle on the way in is a drop down these ledges... here, at the end of the day, on the way back up, Steve takes an exciting line!

The Story of Moose and Squirrel

It was at about this point that the title of this trip report, and Steve and Mark's nicknames for each other were discovered...  Over the CB we heard a guy asking where Pritchett Canyon was.  We knew, and offered to show him.  He said that he was trying to get ahold of some friends and would get back to us.

A few minutes later he called back saying "Bronco and 4Runner... I need those directions".  To us the inflection in his voice, and the way he said "Bronco and 4Runner" reminded us of Boris Badinoff on the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon saying "Moose and Squirrel"... so I suggested we go by Moose and Squirrel... Steve said "I'm not gonna be Squirrel"...  Well, Steve is much more Moose-like, and since some people call Toyota's Squirrels (with Squirrel Motors), I accepted the handle Squirrel...  and so we shall ever be...
