Saturday
LA to Cedar City

After a false start when Mark and Steve learn that 200 lbs. of wood cause Steve's trailer to sway on the highway, we finally begin our trip at about 2PM.  Traveling with a 2 year old means LOTS of baby maintenance stops.  Lauren did really well.  It helped that Steve and Stephanie had a portable Video Player hanging in front of her to keep her entertained!  We pull into Cedar City, UT, at about 11PM Mountain time.

Sunday
Cedar City to Moab

No problems... nice scenic trip.  Of course there were the required 2 year old maintenance stops!

Monday
Moab Rim (4+)

We were really looking forward to doing this trail.  Mark wanted to do Moab Rim on 2 previous trips, but didn't want to attempt such a serious trail alone.  Steve had done just the first (and most spectacular) part, several years ago on his first trip to Moab.

This is an In-and-Out trail, the turn around being at an awesome lunch spot overlooking Moab.

The first part of Moab Rim is steep slickrock with ledges and off camber sections perched on the edge of a cliff!  The trail is visible as black tire marks on the slickrock, leading from the bottom center of the picture to the upper right.

..
Great views along the middle portion of the trail.  Once you gain the "Rim" the trail is a mix of sand, slickrock, and rough dirt road.

..
Our lunch stop at the end of the trail.  The telephoto image above shows our campground in the center of the picture.

.
Some trail side flowers, and Lauren... nap time?

.
On the way down... close to the edge!  The Colorado River in the background.  Poison Spider Mesa is on the right.

Lion's Back (Insane if you are afraid of heights)

Since the owners of the Private Campground that Lion's Back is on charge $10 to go up it, this sign is a joke.  At least they didn't make us sign a release.

.
It's not as steep as it looks... it's STEEPER!
