Dusy-Ershim September 9 - 14 2004

Moose and Squirrel do "Dusty"-Ershim... OR... "Watch out for that tree!"

Thompson Hill is considered by many to the the crux of the Dusy-Ershim trail.  It is steep, loose, and filled with big rocks.  The only positive thing that can be said about Thompson Hill is that there are plenty of trees to use a winch anchors!

Steve's motor didn't like the altitude once we climbed above 8,000 feet and had about 1/2 power (future voyagers that are carburated, take note).  This made for some interesting and stressful wheeling!  To Steve's credit he picked excellent lines and only needed to have some rocks stacked 2 or 3 times.  Steve would have really loved to have some lower gears!

Mark had no problems (as usual).  The factory Toyota altitude compensation on the carburated 22R motor worked great, and Thompson Hill didn't challenge the Ultimate Marlin Crawler, Detroit Soft Locker's front and rear, All-Pro Suspension or 35" MTR's at all...

Come on up...

Thompson Hill has bigger rocks, just as many trees, and is steeper

Typical Thompson Hill scene... at least it is only 1 mile long!

Concentration and intensity!
